In November of 2006, BCC members gave a generous Thanksgiving special offering. One of the goals for that offering was to allow us to upgrade BCC's basic church-management software. We had previously been using the same database software for 16 years, and BCC had outgrown the capabilities of that software some time ago.

As 2007 begins, we have now been able to purchase and install the state-of-the-art Shelby Church database package from Shelby Systems Inc. Initial training of staff and volunteers has been done, and data has been moved from our old system to the Shelby database. Immediately, we can begin enjoying the benefit of a single church-wide database, where changes need be made only once to be seen by and available to *all* departments.

However, with each week that passes we understand that we have much more to learn. Shelby will give us many new capabilities, plus require us to change some of our processes and review others. Change of this order always brings potential for fear, uncertainty and doubt, but the long-term benefits for BCC will greatly outweigh any short-term pain. We appreciate your prayers and your patience as we move ahead. We will provide future updates as we explain new features like web access for members, children's check-in changes, mailing list changes, etc.
