Why Life Groups?
Do you ever get tired of the superficial relationships and having more 'acquaintances" than true friends?
Life Groups are in the "kitchen environment", where people become family as they develop trusting relationships. Here people give and receive care and move their focus towards service for others.
Our Life Groups are center-stage in the ministry life at Beaverton Christian Church. Belonging to a group makes the big church small. Our Life Groups provide every member with that critical point of connection, offering opportunities for ministry and being encouraged to advance spiritually in your relationship with Christ.
What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is typically made up of 8 to 14 people who meet together weekly to draw strength and guidance from God's word. To support and encourage one another and to be a positive influence in the lives of those around them.
Groups are led by people who attend Beaverton Christian Church and who are trained and committed to caring for and encouraging you.
Each group has a leader and a host. Life Groups meet at the host member's home. We have groups in various places throughout the local area which meet on various days of the week. Many of our Life Groups meet in neighborhoods where members live, thus increasing the opportunity to share in everyday life.
Why should I attend a Life Group?
At Beaverton Christian Church we believe the journey of faith is best lived out with other like-minded followers of Christ. Life Groups at BCC exist to help you grow up to full maturity in your relationship with God and others. You may be doing great in your Christian walk right now, but by being in a relationship with fellow believers, you will experience even more of the abundant life Jesus has to offer. Ecclesiastes 4:9-10 says, "Two are better than one, because they have a good return for their work: if one falls down, his friend can help him up". If you are ready to connect with other people and grow in Christ likeness together, then maybe it's time to get involved in a Life Group!
What do Life Groups do?
This can vary from group to group, but most groups have a time of fellowship, prayer, Bible study, life application and ministry to each other and those around them. Most Life Groups follow the current sermon series using the study notes included in the weekly bulletin. Though at times groups will choose a study based on a particular need or interest within the group. Regardless, each study is always biblically based.
How is childcare handled?
Childcare is decided by the Life Group itself. Some groups let their children play in another room, while others bring in someone to supervise.
How do I find a Life Group?
1) Attend GroupLink
Attend a GroupLink event at Beaverton Christian Church. This is our connecting event which is designed exclusively to find a group! Our next GroupLink will be sometime in the Fall. Each guest attending this gathering will get to know others and try out a Life Group.
2) Turn in a Sign-Up Form:
Unable to attend the GroupLink? Simply pick up our brochure from the Adult Ministry kiosk in the Atrium of the Church. Fill out the sign-up panel and return it to the office at Beaverton Christian Church. Based on your criteria, we will give up to three different leaders your contact information so that they can call you and invite you to visit their group. After you get directions and details, just show up and check it out! Hopefully, you'll feel right at home with the first you visit, but you may want to visit several groups before you find the group that's right for you.
3) Contact the Life Group Ministry office:
If you have specific questions or concerns, please feel free to contact the Life Group Ministry office by e-mailing us at lifegroups@bcc.org or call us at 503.646.2151 x279. We'd be happy to serve you!
