Life Groups @ BCC

God did not design us to lead lives of isolation, but instead we are to be vitally connected with Him, and with one another. At Beaverton Christian Church we want to be a place where people make meaningful, lasting connections. The primary way people connect with each other and get “plugged in” to the church is through our Life Group ministry.

Frequently Asked Questions

What is a Life Group?
A Life Group is a gathering of approximately 8−12 people who meet together regularly for fellowship, Bible study, ministry and prayer. Life Groups were created in order to connect people to one another and to the life of Beaverton Christian Church thus helping them apply basic biblical principles to their everyday life. We like to refer to this process as "experiencing life together."

What do you mean “experience life together”?
The weekly gatherings are only one part of what it means to be a part of a Life Group. To experience life together requires that individuals make their relationship with other group members a priority. This consists of a willingness to care for one another and to enjoy fellowship outside of group meeting times.

Are all groups the same?
No. At Beaverton Christian Church, we have different kinds of groups because we have all kinds of people. We try to offer groups for married couples, empty nesters, newlyweds, singles, etc. Regardless of your situation, we want to help you find the gift of friends at Beaverton Christian with whom you can enjoy and experience the Christian life.

Why should I join a Life Group?
Here are four very important reasons. First, you’ll begin to feel like you’re part of the Beaverton Christian Church family and not just a face in the crowd. Second, you’ll immediately be surrounded by people who will provide a caring network of love and support. Third, you’ll begin to understand the Bible better as you study the scriptures with others. Finally, you’ll discover the joy of experiencing life with genuine friends who accept you for who you are and for whom you are becoming.

Do I have to be a member of Beaverton Christian Church to join a Life Group?
Life Groups are open to both attendees and members alike. (Membership is required to lead a group.)

How often do Life Groups meet?
The actual day and time of our meetings are determined by each individual group. Currently, the majority of our Life Groups meet weekly.

How long does a typical Life Group stay together?
We do not force groups to multiply at a predetermined time. However, we do encourage all groups to help expand the Life Group Ministry by training new leaders who can eventually launch a new group. It is not uncommon for groups to be together for 12-18 months before helping to launch a new group.

Where do Life Groups meet?
Most of our groups meet in homes located throughout the Beaverton-Tigard- Aloha area.

What happens at a Life Group meeting?
Every group is different, but there are some common denominators. Most groups have a time for fellowship. The central growth component is a biblical study of something very relevant to the members of the group. Each Life Group is designed to encourage discussion and engage each person in the process. Groups also have the opportunity to pray for one another.

What do groups study?
Group leaders work with the Life Group staff to determine study options. Many groups build discussion around the Sunday morning sermon while others use a small group study. Periodically, the church will work through a coordinated series (sermon and Life Groups) together.

Can I start my own group?
We love it when people are interested in leading or hosting a group of their own. If you’d like more information about leading or hosting, please contact Angie at
lifegroups@bcc.org
